I looked at the mountain of tasks still to do,
Feeling overwhelmed and a bit anxious too,
And then I saw a phrase in a blog that made my brain go ‘ding’
‘Just one thing.’
Now I’d heard something similar many times before,
But this time, the phrasing opened a door,
Leading me to think just a little more about the reasoning behind the action of
‘Just one thing.’
Hmmm, what one thing, just one thing, could I do each day,
To help me to the mountaintop where I could shout hooray!
Certainly, I could do it and be on my way to accomplishment, and all it required was
‘Just one thing.’
Maybe this one thing takes a moment, fifteen minutes, or even an hour or two,
It may be something simple or something complex; completed fast or slow,
It doesn’t matter the size, time, shape, or speed; only that I do it, that
‘Just one thing.’
So, I’ve been experimenting with this concept and by golly it really works!
Each thing I do, once a day, no matter how big or small, adds on to the day before,
I feel it all working together to build something great, that daily practice of doing
‘Just one thing.’
p.s. Today’s one thing is this poem. Done!
Good Day!
